The module is focused on WSTH themes that are important in pediatric aquatic therapy for
children with neuromotor problems such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy or
coordination development disorders. Therapeutic themes will be: goal setting, handling in water,
assessment with WOTA, sensory modulation, training of hand/arm function, agility, endurance and

Johan Lambeck, PT., BHS. owns an Aquatic Therapy Consultancy in The Netherlands. He was affiliated as free research associate at the Faculty of Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Sciences, Leuven University, Belgium till 2016 and co-responsible for the Erasmus EU project “ Aquaevidence / Aquaoutcome”. Johan is a formal visiting lecturer at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Toledo, Spain and holds various free lands affiliations at e.g. Associations of Physical Therapy worldwide. From 1979 – 1997 he was in charge of the Department of Hydrotherapy at the Sint Maartenskliniek, www.maartenskliniek.nl , Europe’s only Medical Centre entirely devoted to diseases of the neuro-musculoskeletal system of both adults and children (neurology, orthopaedics, rheumatology, paediatrics, cardiology).
He is a Senior (WST) Lecturer in the Association IATF, (co-)author of 6 books, 3 webbased DVD’s and 35 published articles on aquatic therapy, partly in peer reviewed journals. In 1998 he was named the Aquatic Therapy Professional in the United States and is the coordinator of the aquatic therapy courses in Valens/Bad Ragaz, Switzerland. Co-founder of the International Halliwick Association (1994) and the Association IATF (2010).
Per 2002 membering the International Society for Medical Hydrology and per 2005 member of the Cochrane review group on balneology for RA and OA. He is member of the board of reviewers of the Journal of Aquatic Physical Therapy and of the former International Journal of Aquatic Research and Education. Johan is the primary contact of the WCPT-APTI, the aquatic network of the World Physical Therapy Association and also was in charge of the “health benefits” group of the WHO update of the guidelines for safe use of pools and spas.
Since 1983 he has taught over 900 aquatic therapy seminars in 50 countries around the world.
